AWS integrated Amazon S3 into Vercel Marketplace and v0. The integration covers general-purpose buckets, S3 Tables, and S3 Vectors, and describes an OIDC flow for obtaining temporary AWS credentials. AWS official announcement
File storage, analytical tables, and vector search have different access patterns. Choose a storage type from the actual reads and writes the application needs, rather than using one option for every workload because it is easy to create.

Different storage types answer different application questions
Object storage centers on files addressed by keys. Analytical tables support querying structured rows and columns, while vector storage supports similarity comparisons over numeric representations such as embeddings. Sharing the S3 name does not make these access patterns interchangeable. Decide whether the application delivers files, aggregates records, or retrieves similar documents before choosing a resource type.
A product-photo feature and a recommendation feature can belong to the same project while needing distinct storage paths. Permissions for the original images can also differ from permissions for derived search data. Provisioning convenience is useful, but data lifetime and deletion requirements should still determine where each type of information belongs.
Temporary credentials still require a narrowly defined role
OIDC provides a standard way to establish an external service’s identity and use it in a role-assumption flow. Temporary AWS credentials can reduce reliance on long-lived keys stored in deployment configuration. Their short lifetime does not compensate for an overpowered role: every allowed operation remains possible while the credentials are valid. Review issuance and authorization together.
Pay particular attention to the trust conditions defining who can assume the role. Confirm that another project or preview deployment cannot assume a production role. Restrict access to the required buckets and object scope, and avoid granting deletion where the application only reads data. These boundaries become more important as the number of projects and deployment environments grows.
Separate production and preview in an upload application
For a hypothetical file-upload app, allow preview deployments to use only a test bucket. Validate upload and deletion using sanitized sample files instead of copying production user data. Separate public browser configuration from server-side credentials. Hiding a value in the interface is not equivalent to preventing it from being included in the client bundle delivered to users.
After launch, monitor request volume and transfer alongside stored capacity and abandoned test files. Check whether deleting an uploaded file also removes related metadata and derived search records. Document how project deletion relates to data deletion so that cleanup neither destroys required records nor leaves persistent storage and charges behind.
Checks immediately after connection
- Separate environment resources and grant only required role actions.
- Ensure server-only environment variables do not enter client bundles.
- Track cross-region movement alongside storage and request charges.
The integration reduces provisioning friction. Public access, lifecycle management, and deletion policies still need to match application requirements.
